Sure he’s Dutch. He creates bastard pop. What’s more?

And a bit of Austin Powers. Rightttt…

To start with, Dutch Bastard is TAFKAP. Not by any means connected to his musical highness Prince (thanks for the music!), but The Artist Formerly Known As Pytski.

Little we know about him.

Born in the year of Killing Joke’s banger “Love Like Blood” and Mai Tai’s “History”. Merely raised by the decade that made the hits (eighties), extended with sounds of Electric Light Orchestra (ELO) and Moody Blues, grewn up with the best and the worst of 90s pop music and the cool stuff in the early zeroes.

As an adult reliving the past by (re)discovering the tunes that made the decades. The Alan Parsons Project, Pink Floyd, Eels, The Cure, Pearl Jam, Cuby + Blizzards, Queens of the Stone Age, Led Zeppelin, Eels, David Bowie, Stranglers, Jamiroquai, The Cardigans, Franz Ferdinand, The Cult, Daft Punk to name a few.
From progressive rock to blues, electronic and dance, from late 60’s pop music to now and back again, you name it. Music that is not known is to be discovered.

At some point the influence of 2manydjs was there. Their ‘Under the Covers’ shows, damn what a way to (re)discover music!

Creating mashups since 2005 by the artist name Pytski during the storm of ‘bastard pop’ / mashups / mashes / bootlegs, jumping aboard the mashup scene bandwagon that was very popular in the early zeroes.

Merely made for fun, Pytski mashups were signaled on several blogs, included in music mixes, featured in mashup grand mixes and playlists, and broadcast on radio stations worldwide. A somewhat lively YouTube channel with a take down notification every once in a while. And then… Pytski disappeared (as a lot of folks in the mashup scene).

It was the continuing interest in (pop) music through the decades, a growing collection of vinyl records in all genres and old habits that made him resurrect as Dutch Bastard, providing you Dutch Bastard music (DBM).

Mashups aren’t dead. You’re here to (re)discover. That makes you want to experience known tracks in a totally new way. Let Dutch Bastard do the trick.

Enriching, or ruining your favorite tunes? That is up to you.

Kind regards,

Dutch Bastard
